New restaurant in Toronto’s East end is daring you to take a bite out their Sea to Farm Sandwich Creations
Classics like Egg-salad and BLT sandwiches need to make room for a new player in Toronto’s east end neighbourhood, with the upcoming opening of FAMO Sandwich Creations. The tiny but tasty sandwich shop is catering to a more daring palate with their sea to farm menu, using braised beef tongue, pork shoulder, swordfish, and braised oxtail as the main ingredients in their lunch and dinner sandwich options. FAMO will also offer a mushroom-mix vegetarian sandwich, a grilled chicken breast sandwich with a curry mango coleslaw, and a beef burger for the less daring palate.
Chef and Owner Babak Fahmi has more than 10 years of culinary experience, most recently as a sous-chef at Terroni in Toronto. His approach with FAMO is to play on the natural characteristics of the ingredients he is using to bring out their full flavour potential. He chooses to use unexpected ingredients, such as cow cheek and duck, to create surprising combinations that lead with flavour first. Babak shares, “there are no limits to FAMO’s sandwich creations. “
FAMO’s unique menu options which will consist of sandwiches, soups, salads, and side dishes, along with Ontario wines on tap, craft beer and popular cold pressed coffee. One can dine for an average of $15.00, including a sandwich and side.
The quaint space has a rustic yet modern vibe with mixed textures of barn board with the original brick walls, geometric black and white tiles with concrete surfaces, and warm lighting. Wood high-top long tables are paired with brushed steel stools to provide seating for approximately 25 guests in a cozy social space.
FAMO plans to open in the coming weeks at 122 Sherbourne St., Toronto.
Sea to farm, we use it all. Tongue to cheek, we eat it all.
